Notification of activities done to my posts? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way to be notified when an action happens to a post of mine. That is, let me know if a thread was marked as answer, helpful, proposed, and reported as abuse. Similar to My activities, except filtering out was i myself did.

  • Yes, that's what alerts are all about.

  • Is there a way to do that without going to email? I only have the email for the account and never really actually check it. Messenger is not available to me here.

Unless that what the my alerts page is, but i don't understand how to set it up. How do i set it up to let me know if something happened to one of my posts (and not whatever happened to the thread)?

  • How else would you expect to be alerted about activity on that thread or your post?

  • My alerts.

Many forum have a message stating how many alerts there are.

  • Agreed.  I've never found a good use for the My Alerts page since it is just a duplicate of My Threads.

In that case you must automatically set all threads you reply to with an Alert.

I use Alerts very rarely (and remove the alerts when I no longer want to be alerted). Thus my My Alerts list has 22 entries. My Threads list somewhat more :)

So for people who don't Alert everything, the My Alerts list is very useful.

(Now that you've pointed it out, I'll use the list to go an remove some very old Alerts - it's always irritating to get e-mail on something I forgot long ago).
