  • Hi Anitha,

There is no upgrade path available just after passing 70-431. What you need to do would be following:

    Pass following three exams:

    70-431

    70-441

    70-442

Once you pass above listed three exams, you will become MCTS and
MCITP: Database Developer on SQL Server 2005

Now you have an upgrade path. Just by passing one additional exam (70-454),

    Exam 70-454
: Upgrade: Transition Your MCITP SQL Server 2005 Database Developer to MCITP SQL Server 2008 Database Developer

You will have two additional certifications.

MCITP: SQL Server 2008, Database Developer

    and

MCTS: SQL Server 2008, Database Development

Hope this is helpful and answers your question.

  • Upgradation means you are certified in both versions of the softwares (In this case SQL Server 2005 and 2008). Yes, you have to take more tests to upgrade your certification but this is usually less tests compare to someone taking regular path.

Check this link for detail: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-sql-server.aspx#tab4

    Hope this is helpful.

Excuse my Ignorance but Can you please explain what is this Upgradation? Do we have to take more tests or do we automatically get more certificates? Can you give me some details about these upgrade packages?
