Corrupt iTunes copies of mp3 files RRS feed

  • Question

  • My client and server software are up to date.

I buy new music on my local machine. I have a Sonos audio system that runs from a library on WHS. I use the iTunes auto copy feature of the WHS client to copy the music to WHS. To force an immediate synch of any new downloads I disable and then re-enable the iTunes copy feature. I then reindex the Sonos music library to pick up the new music. I then play a selection on the Sonos and find that it gets about 3/4 of the way through and then skips to the next track. I do a CRC32 check on the original mp3 versus the mp3 that was copied and although the byte count is identical the images are not identical. I then use explorer to copy the files and again a CRC32 check and the files are identical and now play properly.

I have only been following this ritual for the last couple days because I began to notice problems in some of my music. I don't know which mp3s are good and which are bad but I have over 4000 mp3 files on WHS.

    Anyone else having similar problems?
