  • I am not in support my friend,

if u reda my 1st forum i am looking to get certified, i have alreay 10 yrs exp in MS technology, i am using Visual studio since 2000, starting from Vb5.0/6.0 till .net 3.5.

i had plan to get certified but due to many reason i was not, but i think it ll be help ful for me.

so why i want suggestion if u people have any.

Then I would just say this:

Do this exam:  the 70-536, you have to do it regardless of whether you're using .net 2 or .net 3.  Then after that see here to see which one maps to your job role: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-vstudio.aspx

  • Here I what I suggest:

    For Windows Development:

MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Forms Applications (Two Required exams)

    ·          Exam 70-536: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework – Application Development Foundation

    ·          Exam 70-505: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Forms Application Development

    For Web Development:

MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, ASP.NET Applications (Two Required exams)

    ·          Exam 70-536: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework – Application Development Foundation

      ·          Exam 70-562: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, ASP.NET Application Development

    Q.  How much do certification exams cost?

    A. Exams typically cost US$125 but are priced according to currency values in specific countries and regions. Certification exam prices are subject to change. In some countries and regions, additional taxes may apply. Beta exams are free.

Free e-learning (This is the list for all but choose the .net related) http://learning.microsoft.com/Manager/Catalog.aspx?view=free
Free MS-Press Books for you to download (first one is ASP .net)  http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/rampup/thread/32e1e68c-e499-439d-9508-24b3a981c722

Firstly ,I think no one can help you choose a certfication or exam. And at least you should specify your requirements about the certification .
which technology you would prefer to maybe or your experience in some technology is key to help you choose your certification !
As for the costs ,you just spend  US$125  in each exam! But you should purchase some materials for the exams .
Maybe you can download or purchase some materials from those sit like microsoft ebook or microsoft pdf or measureup.com which aims to provide microsoft products .however the materials from those sites ,in my opinion are not enough for us .

  • I assume that you're a programmer as the title states ".Net".

With that in mind, you have to do this exam:  the 70-536, regardless of whether you're using .net 2 or .net 3.  Then after that see here to see which one maps to your job role: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-vstudio.aspx

Quote from MS: Pass Exam 70-536: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework – Application Development Foundation. This exam is the foundation prerequisite for all Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008 MCTS and MCPD certifications.

How much is it going to cost?  Well it depends on what study method and material you use.  For example doing a class will be more expensive than self-study (but there are other pro's and con's with that), in the US the exam is $125, in the UK the exam is £88.  You can contact your local Prometric centre to find out the cost of the exam in your region: http://www.prometric.com/default.htm

How many hours will it take you?  This is down to you and how much experience you already have, it will take some people a couple/few weeks but for others it will take a few months...  Just remember one thing, this isn't a race.

If you're working in the tech support instead of the programming side, let us know :)  Hope this helps.
