Product Key In Use

    Question

  • hi,

Ive had Vista Home premium OEM for a few years and had no trouble activating it before. I put it away on a shelf (after uninstalling it) for about 2 years when windows 7 was installed on a new PC. Ive decided to install it again on the old PC but it comes up with the "Product in use message". I have the CD in the original packing with the product code attached to the packing. If someone is using my code what can I do or who do I contact? Enclosed is the MGA diagnostics in case its my error. I only have 2 PC's. One running Win 7 the other trying to validate Vista. Any assistance would be of help. Thanks!!

  • Use telephone activation - assuming this is the same machine on which the license was previously installed, you should have no problem

    telephone activation (operator calls)
    Click on the Start button
    in the Search box, type
    SLUI 4
    and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you

  • Once an OEM version of Windows Vista is activated on a particular PC, it can only be reinstalled on that same PC and reactivated.  It cannot be activated on a different PC.  So the question is: are you installing it on the same PC it was originally installed on?
