Encountered a problem and needs to close

Question
-
I downloaded the live one care software and used the free trial period and after the trial period I bought the software from the store. After trying to download the software I received a message stating that the software was already downloaded and that I needed to uninstall and reinstall. I did so and now I keep receiving an error message when I try to open up one care stating that one care has encountered a problem and needs to close. What am I doing wrong?

This particular error message sometimes indicates that the system time and date are set incorrectly, so start by checking that. Also, see this thread: http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3771160&SiteID=2
Reinstalling might solve the problem, as Rick, MS suggests, but please note that the cleanup tool is not itself an uninstaller, and should not be used prior to uninstalling OneCare through the normal procedure. This is unclear both here and in the “instructions” provided, and I think this ambiguity is causing some problems. Also, reinstalling with the download rather than the CD would be advisable.

Encountered a problem and closes,
Thank you for visiting the Live OneCare program forum. First, try the cleanup tool located with instructions on the link below:

Then, use the media you recieved and try re-installing.
Post back for continued support.
