Windows home server set up RRS feed

  • Question

  •  My first though was to set up the primary drive with two 500gb hd with raid, and two 500gb hd say as storage, thinking the primary drives would need the space for back up of 3 computers and the raid would protect the information on the primary if one drive should fail, is this overkill.
Second the 3 computers I have are windows xp pro 64bit(mine) and 2 with xp pro 32 bit, will the home server back up and if needed restore all 3 of the computers?

    Thank You

First, RAID of any flavor is unsupported on WHS.  Besides, WHS has a feature called Folder Duplication (a share-based app that saves files on 2 different hard drives in the server, room permitting).

XP 64-bit is not supported on WHS (only XP 32-bit, and Vista, both 32 and 64-bit).
