Is there a way to configure the Synchronization options and "Modify Local Data Groups” BEFORE installing the CRM Client for Outlook for a user? (say, on the network side of things) The default is to synchronize all contacts that are assigned to a user, so upon opening Outlook the first time after the client is installed, the user-owned CRM contacts are automatically imported to Outlook.
This presents multiple problems:
1) We have multiple contacts per Account. Typically, a sales rep only calls upon the primary contact. All other contacts are for reference and not needed in the Outlook Contacts folder. It is possible that a sales rep would have thousands of unneeded contact names imported into the Outlook Contacts folder from CRM.
2) As there is no option to sync to a folder other than the default Outlook Contacts folder, those thousands of contact names would then synchronize to the user’s Blackberry making for a very unhappy user.
Please let me know if there is a work-around other than the following:
1) Temporarily turn off sync to Blackberry
2) Temporarily move all user contacts to an Outlook Contacts sub-folder
3) Install the CRM client for Outlook
4) Configure the CRM synchronization and filter properties
5) Delete all the CRM Contacts from Outlook Contacts folder
6) Force a CRM sync of the newly created sync filters
7) Move the original user contacts from the temporary sub-folder back to the main Outlook Contacts folder
8) Turn on sync to Blackberry
Seems like there should be a better way.
Thank you.
