CRM On-Premise to Exchange On-Line and Impersonation RRS feed

  • Question

  • It seems as though configuring Impersonation for Exchange On-Line does not allow CRM to Send as Users. We have configured Impersonation for the e-mail router service account as per the following:

    http://exchws.wordpress.com/2011/12/13/activate-user-impersonation-in-office-365-for-exchange-online/

Now I know the following article describes configuring CRM On-Line agains Exchange On-Line using the Online version of the e-mail router. But it specifies an option that doesn't seem to exist in the On-Premise E-mail Router configuration:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dynamicscrmonline/archive/2009/12/07/crm-online-e-mail-router-and-exchange-online.aspx

Specifically the missing option is in the Outgoing Profile Settings Access Type = Impersonation. In my On-Premise deployment that option doesn't appear, in it's place I see Access Type = Send as permission.

Without granting Send As we are getting the following error when a User sends an e-mail in CRM and the E-mail router attempts to submit the message to Exchange On-Line.

Error: The user account which was used to submit this request does not have the right to send mail on behalf of the specified sending account.

Granting Send As permission for every user isn't ideal as it adds a manual step to the creation of new CRM users that could easily be forgotten. We would Ideally like it for Impersonation to work as designed.

Has anyone successfully linked CRM On-Premise to Exchange On-Line using Impersonation?

    Thanks,
