WebDAV with Vail RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm looking to sync OneNote notebooks remotely with WHS Vail.  With straight up Server R2 I can do this with Sharepoint or just WebDAV.  With WHS v1 the Web Folders plugin worked.  I haven't found a way to do it with Vail.

I'm wondering what I should try first:

    1. Trying to install the WebDAV addin from v1 on Vail
    2. Adding WebDAV to the IIS role and setting it up independently
    3. Looking for another solution

I've searched and cannot find anything about this particular setup.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    1. V1 add-ins are not, and will not be, compatible with Vail, so this one's out.
    2. This is an option.
    3. This is also an option. If you're going to go this route, you might want to experiment with Sharepoint. It won't be a supported configuration, but there's a lot of power available there. Be careful not to mess up the built-in web applications. :)

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Yes, I've used SharePoint Foundation to do this and it works reasonably well.  The downside is that the "server" I'm using it on only has 2GB of ram and it isn't worth upgrading rather than just building a whole new one.  2GB is half what's "required" for SharePoint and it runs rather slowly.

I was hoping WHS would be a lighter-weight solution... At least this gives me an(other) excuse to build a new machine.

    Thanks,
