    Referrals works simply as invitation, u need to type ur friend name and email address to invite him/her for contest. keep in mind that ur friend will need a Windows Live ID/Passport to login in this Rockstar website.

    you first type in the email, so that the referral / invite will be sent to your friend. He gets a link for the signup. He clicks on that link, logins with a windows passport account, if he dont have, he can create one. USE the same EMAIL *** signing, and if done correctly you will  get 40 points for that ;)
