CRM 4 - Access Denied when System Administrator tries to open a Security Role RRS feed

  • Question

  • Have a CRM install where a user who is a System Administrator receives an "Access Denied" error screen when they try to open a Security Role.

They can see the Role list and they are in the correct Business Unit.

    Any ideas?

  • Can you be more specific about the error message text and appearance ? Is it presented in an IE error window (client script errors), a CRM error dialog, or an ASP .Net Server Error page. Is there anything in the trace log if you enable tracing

  • When the role is double-clicked on, the IE window that pops up contains:

    "Access Is Denied

"You do not have enough privileges to access the Microsoft Dynamics CRM object or perform therequested operation.  Gor more informatin, contact your Microsoft Dynamics CRM administrator."

Nothing in the Event Log.  Not sure about tracing.  Will ask the client to turn it on.

  • Hi Gordon,

Just a thought, but is your problem user the deployment administrator for the organisation (i.e. the user who created or imported the organisation)? if not, then log-in as the other system admin (who's the deployment administrator), remove your problem user's security role, and re-add it.

    Hope that fixes it,

  • Check weather the administrator is in CRM PrivUserGroup.

Clear all the cache in the browser.
