How to save EDGE favorites to another location

    Question

  • Windows 10 Edge appears to save the favorites in: C:\Users\<usr>\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppData\User\Default\Indexed DB

I'd like to save it in D:\<usr>\Documents\Edge\Favorites

I tried renaming "Indexed DB" to "Foo" and then symbolically linking mklink "Indexed DB" "D:\<usr>\Documents\Edge Favorites\Indexed DB".

I opened Edge, added some favorites, then closed it. Opened it to verify the favorites I added were still there, yes, they were.

But, the linked location was not updated. So where did Edge save the favorites when "Indexed DB" was a symbolic link instead of a folder? That wasn't obvious, and a filesystem search of things changed revealed nothing.

So why didn't the symbolic link work?
