  • Question

  • I have two hds from an old PC.  I put the first in and saw it immediately.  I was able to copy folders across into shares as required, no problem.  I took out that disk and put in the second disk from the old PC.  I can see the disk in disk management but there is no drive letter assigned.  Again I just want to copy folders from this disk into the drive pool / shares on whs.  The only difference other than size is that possibly the second disk was set up as a slave on the old pc whereas the first disk was a master.

    Any advice gratefully received....

  • MS doesn't want people messing around in Disk Management on WHS, because doing the wrong thing could nuke your data. So this is unsupported, may cause issues, and you're doing it at your own risk Smile

If the issue is just that the drive letter hasn't been assigned, you can right click on the volume and Change Drive Letter. Make absolutely sure that the volume you're working with is not a WHS-managed volume.
