Windows Vista Home Premium Activation Not Functioning

Question
-
I have recently bought an Pavilion laptop from CompUSA with preinstalled Windows Vista Premium Edition. Since the wireless adapter refused to function properly (couldn't find any access points although two two other PC''s standing nearby easily functioned), I eventually gave up with trying to solve the problem and reinstalled Vista. Surprisingly that solved the problem, however, after I entered the product key from the back of my laptop I got the message that the key is invalid and I should call the phone service. Naturally that is what I did, but after doing the phone verification I was told that my product key couldn't be found or verified or something along these lines. When trying to validate windows I get the following:
Thank you for validating your copy of Microsoft Windows.
Thank you for using the Windows Genuine Advantage program. You may now access resources for genuine Windows users.
The diagnostics presents the following information:

Because this forum is dedicated to validation issues, you’ll need to contact outside support for the expertise necessary to troubleshoot your activation issue. You can do so by posting or searching in the Vista pubic newsgroups, found here: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspx or by following this link to Product Support Services. Microsoft has a 90 day free support period that starts on the day you first acquire Vista.
If you bought your computer pre-installed with Vista either from a computer store or an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) like Dell or Gateway, you’ll need to contact them for support. Thank you!

I have already tried that- I get a "validation complete" sign in the end and that's it. Doesn't solve my problem with windows not being activated for some unknown reason.Saturday, June 16, 2007 12:19 PM
