Screen Grab from a dvd?

Is it possible to do a screen grab from a dvd? I need this for illustrating a college essay; it is not going to be examined or published so there's not a copyright issue. But my screen grab programme states it will not run while dvd player is running. (I'm using the application 'grab' on a mac). Does anyone know of a way to get a still image off a dvd onto your computer?

don't know about this, but Googling "DVD screen capture Mac" lead me to this freeware program: http://www.pure-mac.com/screen.html#dvdcapture

Also, VideoLAN does this (freeware DVD player): www.videolan.org/vlc/download.html

Both programs require OS X.
