Can we Setup two CRM Accounts on One Dedicated Server? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi There,

    i) We have 2 dedicated servers & both have on premises CRM Installations. Can we some how move both On Premises CRM installations to one server? If yes then how can we do it & will it cause any performance issue?

ii) How can we Install Fesh On Premises CRM Version on a NEW SERVER? Can we do it ourselves or we have to hire some CRM Experts or third party for it?

iii) How to move an existing On Premises Installation to other server?  Can we do it ourselves or we have to hire some CRM Experts or third party for it? I know little about Import & Export Customization.

Actually I am new to CRM Server Installations etc and the guy who did this before left the company so client asked me to do it.

    Thanks in Advance.

    Kind Regards

    i) you can't have two CRM implementations on one server - upgrade from professional to enterprise will allow this via the built-in multi-tenancy. however if you were to use virtualization and put them in their own images you could then have them both on one physical box.

ii & iii) working with live production data is inherently nerve wracking even for the pros, but if you want to do it yourself read this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952934/en-us

the cost of doing it wrong could put the company's data and intellectual property at risk - I would encourage you to engage a CRM professional who has done this several times before.

  • i) i hope you can do it, while doing the 2nd installation you need to point to a different sql server.

but what is the sue of doing it? as crm 4.0 supports multitenancy feature.

ii)you can just follow the simple steps given in the documents by miscrosoft. prior to that u need to plat how the installations you want, like on single server (typical) or multi server(custom). if you want i can help you out on it.

iii) moving installatiosn means also different thing like movingonly sql server or application server or the whole systems. else you can contcat me also for the same.

just click here to see http://bproud2banindian.blogspot.com/2010/09/how-to-move-microsoft-dynamics-crm-40.html
