Hi,
All I get when I start up my vista pc now is a message box saying that an unauthorised status has been made to windows. I cant even get onto the start menu. The only way I am able to get onto the internet browser is by selecting 'learn more online'. I was trying to make some changes to computer name setting as this is a second hand computer and was trying to change it into my name as the user, but obviously i have done something really wrong! What do i do? I copied the diagnostic report below.

This problem is believed to be caused by v6 Avast - if you're using that, the best thing to do is to uninstall it, and install MSE after validating your system and updating the system to Service Pack 2 level..

You should be able to access the Avast uninstaller in Safe Mode.It sounds to me as if you are working with a very out-of-date system, probably still running RTM Vista. You really need to update it to SP2, which would avoid this sort of lockout happening in future.
