Creating a managed solution compatible with MSCRM 2011 and MSCRM 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is it possible to create a managed solution which is compatible with both MS CRM 2011 and MS CRM 2013.

Ideally I would like to develop and package it on MS CRM 2013.

    Thanks,

    Kzmp

  • A CRM 2011 solution can be imported in a CRM 2013 environment but not vice versa. It would be best to develop your solution in CRM 2011 if you want it to be compatible with that. You could later upgrade the CRM 2011 solution for 2013 and ideally make use of the CRM 2013 feature set.

  • Hi,

Thank you for your answer. What do you mean by "upgrade the CRM 2011 solution for 2013"?

  • CRM 2011 solution can be imported to CRM 2013 environment. What I mean by upgrade is for you to leverage any of 2013 features that could help your solution with functionality that you might have designed in a custom way in CRM 2011. This means additional work but will help keep your CRM 2013 solution updated with the latest features and upcoming releases. Essentially you'll end up with 2 different solutions for CRM 2011 and 2013.
