Avoid/merge "audit trail" if no activity RRS feed

Based on 10 minutes in the Sandbox, I would suggest reducing/merging/eliminating the "audit trail" if there has been no "activity" on a thread.

I can appreciate the value of an "audit trail" ... so you don't have a situation where "after the fact" a person modifies a posting that invalidates subsequent posts. This seems valuable in a "wiki" situation ... especially once there has been some activity.

However, if there has not been a reply to a post, then I would appreciate a "merging" of the edits.

This seems to especially apply since there doesn't seem to be an obvious "Preview" capability. So I suppose you either:
    * compose the post in the "Sandbox" to get it to look right, then submit to the actual forum
    * compose in a text editor and hope it doesn't look to flawed
    * have an audit trail that shows what a newbie / klutz you are trying to figure out tags
