Sourcing Data from AZURE CRM RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi Techies

Can I pick your brains on a question that I have around sourcing data from a Dynamics CRM:

    Current Situation:

We  source data from AZURE Dynamics CRM into our On Premise Data Warehouse (SQL Server 2012) using SSIS and Kingsway Soft connector. A big drawback has been speed.

    Question 1:

I do understand with On Prem CRM, we could tune the filtered views of the CRM which would improve performance of the data extract processes. Is there anything similar we could do with AZURE CRM? I was told that we cannot get hold of the backend database. Is this still the case?

    Question 2:

What is the Microsoft suggested approach to sourcing data from AZURE CRM? Is it through directly connecting to the CRM instances?

I am more than happy to provide further info in regards to these questions, but if you could share your insights that would be awesome.

    Cheers

  • Hi Nithin,

    1. With CRM Online you can't access the back end database; so no access to the filtered views and there is nothing similar to that either. You can request a backup of the database from Microsoft but for your requirement it won't make sense as this is an ongoing synchronization process.

    2. Only way to get data from CRM Online is connecting directly to the instance. Speed has been a concern for us as well in the past.

  • Thank you Sachith.

We have used Kingsway Soft CRM connector in SSIS packages. We have also thought about Pragmatic Works CRM Source connector.

Are there any other options which you would recommend?
