Question
-
Hi I bought my computer from Future shop a little over a year ago, and everything was working fine until today this message appeared on my desktop in the bottom right hand corner. "windows7 build 7601 is not genuine" I turned off my computer and when I restarted it, the message was gone but now it came back. Please help.

Thank you for your help Noel. I guess I won't be using avg pc tuneup anymore...a gift from my son hahaOMG! – If it was that that caused the problem, you should write a stiff email to AVG. They are usually pretty quick to respond positively (or they were back in the day....). I have to say that I’d be surprised it it was that, but ALL registry/system ‘Cleaners’, ‘Optimisers’ and ‘Tuners’ are pretty much snake-oil, and dangerous in the long run. I would avoid all such, and certainly if I found someone had been using one on my machines, they would longer be using them! (and possibly not breathing either <eg>). Any tuning that can be done is best done using the many tools available in the OS, unless you really know what you’re doing – the system goes to great lengths to prevent you doing what you didn’ orta do :)Everything looks OK now – so you can get back to work :)Good luck.

Click Start, type 'cmd' in the Search/Run box, and right click on the CMD icon at the top of the results pane. Select Run as Administrator. When the cmd window opens type 'sfc /scannow' at the prompt and hit Enter. When the scan completes close the cmd window. Reboot and see if the error persists. If it does use System Restore to recover to a point before you first saw the error. Post a new MGADiag report in your reply here.

Error: 0x80070422
The problem here appears to be that someone has disabled both the SPPSVC and the SPPUINOTIFY services. This may be a misguided attempt to speed up the machine, or it may be the action of malware.Click on Start
in the Search box, type
SERVICES.MSC
and hit the Enter key - accept the UAC prompt if you get one.
Look in the console for the Software Protection service, right-click on it and select Properties.
make sure that the Startup Type is set to Automatic (Delayed Start), and click Apply.
Try starting the service now - do you get an error message? Does it start? does it almost immediately stop again?Repeat for the SPP Notification service.
Post back with your results, and a new MGADiag report.
