Why Do I Have to Validate Everytime I Sign ON? RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I do not mind validating my copy of windows to fight piracy, however I am getting more than a bit frustrated being told I am a victim of counterfeit software every time I sign onto my pc.

I still have the balloon notification after yet validating again!

How do I validate this once and for all and stop being seeing these messages on my homepage and task bar?!

Can you run the diagnostics tool on your daughter's account? Its probably a simple permissions issue that didn't get passed down to the other accounts.

  • Kathleen C,

I'm sorry that you are having all these issues..

To help me understand the issue further can you please follow the steps below?

    1. Download and run the WGA Diagnostic Tool  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

    2. After running the WGA Diagnostic Tool, click on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy to Clipboard". Paste the results into your forum response.

Can you clarify the issue you're seeing? Its showing me that there should be nothing happening.

Do you see a dialogue box interrupt you as you log in?

The problem was the message on the log in page showing I am a victim of counterfeit.  Then there was a star-balloon icon on the task bar telling me the same thing, even after validating.

I validated over and over without these notifications disappearing.  When I ran that tool you provided, I now have no messages that I am a counterfeit.  They have miraculously disappeared.

Thank you, I no longer feel like a thief using my pc!

    Thank You

OK....relief was short lived.  As soon as I changed users to fix msn messenger on my daughter's user account all the notifications came back.
