Restored Default Firewall Settings on WHS HP Mediasmart 470!!!!! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I do not know what I was thinking but somehow I did it!! :(

I clicked the restore defaults in the Advanced tab of the Windows Firewall settings. As soon as I did, it closed my Remote desktop connection, disconnected from the WHS consoles and now I cannot even ping the server!
Since this is the HP MediaSmart server, there is no monitor or CD Drive on it!

How can I restore the firewall settings so that I can get in again? Cannot afford to lose any data obviously!!!

Any help/ideas would be highly appreciated!!! Please help!!!!

Your only real option is Server Recovery.  It will wipe the OS partition, but leave everything else in tact.

  •  Thank you... at first it really scared me but there had to be a way I thought. Browsing on the net, I found how to restore the box. The restore went fine, but the last part of the software installs for some reason got stuck at 23% for the whole night. In the morning I just cancelled the setup and rebooted the server.
Everything came up fine, no data was lost.
    Sigh!

    Thanks again!
