You're welcome, Benny. No problem in not mentioning the OS, that was just a thought. If you want to resolve your problems with Windows Update, check out the Windows Update Solution Center - http://support.microsoft.com/ph/6527

Is this PC running Vista? If so, see this KB article for a fix - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939399
This thread in the Windows Update newsgroup also has a number of possible solutions, but the one that jumped out for me was a firewall issue on a router.
If OneCare can't reach Windows Update, it will tell you. I expect that it is accessing it differently than the way we access it via the Windows Update web site and the corresponding controls to load and search the catalog.

Thank you Steve for your time. Truth of the matter is I am a nubie and failed to mention that I am using xp home prem. And after I thought about your answer if makes sense that one care would reach the update site in a unique way. So I feel better about keeping my machine up to date but still think that i should be able to reach the update site manually. Thanks again, Benny StrongSunday, January 6, 2008 6:36 AM
