    bought an HP mini netbook about 6 months ago with windows 7 starter already loaded  and was running fine until the error message came up. it still works ok, however it wont open any office files. here it the diagnostic

    i have since installed the updates for windows, and it has run check disk. when it first started it asked me if i wanted to get windows now or later. it didnt do anything when i clicked now, so i went with later. the error message has now gone and i can open office files again. but it said that in 27 days windows security something will stop working. sorry i dont know much about computers.

    Please attempt Validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate and see what happens - if it passes you will be offered MES and IE9.
    If it fails, it'll be fairly obvious - and you may be offered the Diagnostics. Take that, and see what advice it give, follow it, and when you get all green, try validation again.
