I've been trying to guess what the future holds for Live Mesh for quite some time, and getting increasingly depressed. I just wrote an article about my best guess, which is that Live Mesh will drift along, at best, never becoming much more than it is now - and in particular, not being integrated with Skydrive. It looks like Microsoft intends to sell Office 2010 in part by its unique integration with Skydrive, and it can't accomplish that sales goal if we all get equally easy access to Skydrive outside of Office 2010.
I hope I'm not right and Microsoft has a grand vision to unveil that's built on Live Mesh. If so, it's a little too well guarded a secret.
