  • Hello jennlynn122001,

Your Diagnostic Report shows both Vista and Office are Genuine and I don't see any other errors that would cause the Non-Genuine Notification.

It's possible there was an error that momentaraly caused Vista to flip into Non-Genuine but Vista recovered and returned to it's Genuine state (probably took less then a sec).  Normally you wouldn't even notice the event except that Vista sometimes takes up to two reboots to reset it's systems back to genuine (specificly that text on the desktop).

Try rebooting a couple times and the Notification should clear.

However, if rebotting does not resolve the issue, it's possible (bt unlikely since the Diag shows not indications) that Vista' Licensing Store file may be malformed.  Try the below steps and see if that resolves the issue.

    1) Open an Internet Browser

    2) Type %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.

    3) Find the file CMD.exe

    4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'

    5) Type: net stop slsvc  (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)

    6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing

    7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar

    8) Type: cd %windir%\system32

    9) Type net start slsvc

    10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)

    11) Reboot Twice

    12) You will likely be asked to re-enter your Product Key and/or reactivate.

    Thank you,
    Darin MS
