part of product key worn off RRS feed

  • Due to a virus i have to reinstall windows xp home. the sticker with the product key is located on the bottom of my laptop and from use part of it is worn away. 19 of the 25 keys are visible as well as the barcode and a 14 digit number below it. is there a way to retrieve this key or receive a new one?

    Thank you for visiting us today. Curious is this system a laptop? If so you should have been given a Recovery Media disc @ the time of purchase. This will allow you to perform a complete reinstallation without needing the PK located @ the bottom of your laptop. Should you not have the original Recovery Media please contact your laptops technical support and request them to send you one.

  • hey Stephen just for your all knowing information Not all laptops come with a restore disk and that stupid restore partition they put on the darn things can be attact by a virus, also if it is a dell laptop unless you specifically request a restore disk set you wont get one
