Alarm Clock Issue with HTC Hermes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Recently, I have been having an issue with the alarm clock.  I set it to wake me up in the morning and it does not go off.  I actually set two alarms, one minute apart from each other just in case.  I have all the days grayed, the check mark is checked off in the box to activate the alarm.  I double check to see if it is for AM or PM.  It has happened twice now.  I then set the alarm two minutes in advance and it still did not go off.  I actually tried this five times, and everytime it failed.  I then turned the phone off and on again, thinking that it would correct itself, and reset the alarm and still nothing.

Thanks in advance for your help,

If it is available for your device, I absolutely would.

One would hope that the enhancements fix issues but you will never know until you do it Kreide3

A ROM upgrade WILL erase everything so make sure your PC has been synced with your device to protect that data BEFORE you upgrade.  Once you upgrade, a sync will bring back all your contacts, calendar, tasks etc back.  Of course you will have to reinstall all your applications again.

  • Do any alarms go off?  If you were to take your device and set an alarm to go off in say 5 minutes, will it work?

  • Just as a test, disable all alarms, reset your device then try the test alarm.

  • Yes and No.  I did just that and it did not go off, then tried it again later that day and on another day it did.  This morning however; it did not.

  • I tried that about eight times, 5 worked and three did not. But you know something odd happened, when the alarm did go off, the clock on top of the screen did not move forward into the next minute, until I touched the OK button in the upper right corner.  Do not know if that was always the case, but just noticed, didn't know if it was important.

Are the numbers on the clock suppose to represent the correct time if you are in an application?  For example, when I am in Settings>Clock & Alarms>Time the seconds are ticking away and when it reaches the next minute, the clock in the upper corner does not move forward right away.  I was watching and it took one minute and an half to move forward.  Again, sorry for all the info.

  • I wish I could recreate the issue Kreide but my alarm always works when I set it.  I am not sure why the issue is occurring especially when it works and then it does not.  I wonder if there is a program running in the background that you might have run that is having some effect on the alarm.

I assume when you reset it it, then set the alarm it worked as you indicated but then there were a few times it did not.  Had you run a program?  Was it still running in the background when you set the alarm?

  • The only program that seems to be running on a regular basis is Activesync.  I tried the alarm both with running adn not running the program, and the alarm work both times.  What if I installed mobile 6.1?  They only thing that I am sure about with upgrading to 6.1 is if it would wipe out my files and I would have to re-install everything.  Could you please ease my fears if this is the case.

    Thanks

  • It's possible that the notification queue on your HTC Hermes has a bunch of duplicate and erroneous notifications that are clogging things up and preventing your device from firing off notifications reliably.  Check this article for a discussion of this problem and links to tools to help you resolve it.

  • That article on your site brings back into memory some great tools I have noticed in a while Prof Julie.  Thanks for posting that as a reminder.  My preference is ScaryBear's CheckNotifications (probably because it was my first and it did the job when I needed it).

  • Thank you Prof for the good feedback.  I downloaded the Scary software and found only 29 events, and none were dups.  Although, I did find alot of interesting info on the webpage that you suggested.

Going back to my question that brought your response, do you think I should download Mobile 6.1?  Do you think that this would fix any of my problems?  And more importantly, will it erase all info on my phone?

    Thanks
