Cannot install vista client laptop with home server connector RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have successfully installed windows home server 2011 on to my server and installed the connector on to another computer although that computer is windows 7 ultimate, I Cannot connect the vista laptop computer to the server because either another software installation is in progress, or, the computer has a restart pending. Either complete the installation process, or, restart the computer and try to connect again."

Before any person diverts me away form this to go and edit the regedit file for pending filerename operations to pending filename operations 2?

Please let me tell you that my regedit only has the file: "Filerename operations" so how can I edit a file that is not there? unless they mean filename operations instead of pending filename operations.

    thanking you in advance

  • Hi thanks for your reply?

You both are right I was in the wrong part of the file and couldn't access or see the pending filename operations file only a file called filename operations. I found the file and sorted the problem. If any of your readers want to find the proper fix for this problem follow this link

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2723674

there are two ways to sort it.

    1) use the microsoft fix it

    2) or follow the instructions

Again I would like to thank both James and Phil for their help.

  • If the "PendingFileRenameOperations" key is not there (are you looking in the right place?), have you tried re-booting your client? After that, try this just in case you made an error:

  • At the same time, make sure your client and server are both up-to-date.
