Validation Issues Windows XP RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an industrial computer that is running Windows XP. It has suddenly started to display a message that the Windows Product must be activated before I can log on. If you hit Yes then it says the activation file is correct and hit okay to continue. Clicking on okay does nothing. If you click on No you are logged out & have no choice but to shut down the computer.

  • Boot into "Safe Mode with Command prompt".

At the run command prompt type the following EXACTLY

    rundll32.exe syssetup,SetupOobeBnk

*NOTE: The "Oo"'s in Oobe are "oh's" - not "zero's"  There is one space after rundll32.exe.

    Hit the Enter key

Reboot the PC into normal mode

Hopefully, you'll now be able to log in and run an MGADiag report, and have time to sort the problem out.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
     Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
      - **in your own thread**, please
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
