Do non-genuine codes ever work? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi :)  I purchased Windows 7 Pro from a vendor on Amazon, installed and used the product key I was given, and all was well until a few days ago when it started telling me that Windows is not genuine.  I'd like to think I wasn't the victim of software counterfeiting, especially considering the product key worked for months just fine.

I'm currently looking through other forum posts for ways to try to fix this, but wanted to know if I could rule out counterfeit software (my browser apparently can't handle the online validation option, for whatever reason).

    Thanks much!

  • Unfortunately, the installed Windows 7 Pro product key was pirated from a not-for-sale MSDN subscription account and is not valid.  You will need to purchase a genuine Windows 7 Pro license and then change the product key.

  • MGA Diagnostic Report is Required:

To properly analyze, diagnose and solve problems with Windows Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012)

    Once downloaded, run the tool.

Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button.

Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either Right-click or Paste, or CTRL+V) into your post.
