    I have been searching for a while for a beefy laptop to use for my development and on my travels have not found a forum which discusses general hardward and software a developer uses.  Has my searching skills gone pear shaped and I have missed them or would a forum be useful to discuss the different types of hardward and software a developer uses and why?

    There already is a forum just like that.  If you look around for a bit, you'll probably understand why it was recently closed.  These kind of unmoderated and unfocused forums don't work well here.
