Who do you think you are? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Who does Microsoft windows think they are.  If I download Chrome, out of nowhere my laptop no longer talks to my printer using wifi.  I should be able to download and use whatever browser I want.  This garbage started with update 1903 and apparently you intend to continue to try bite in to google browser supremacy by forcing me to only use Edge as my browser or i have to sit next to my printer with a wire.  Microsoft is being so transparent a blind man can see what you are doing.  If I'm wrong then send me the driver that will fix this problem:  Device SWD\DAFWSDProvider\urn:uuid:e3248000-80ce-11db-8000-485f99cbab95/uri:e3248000-80ce-11db-8000-485f99cbab95/PrinterService requires further installation.  In normal speak that means Windows has a driver I need to use wifi with my Brother DCP-T710W.

  • Might also ask in the laptop manufacturer forums about problems with the onboard wifi radio.

  • Internet browsers have no settings with printer/software-driver.For printers/fax,in run type: appwiz.cpl in add/remove open windows services (L.sub menu)scroll to printers/fax/expand the tree, select all, exit restart pc.This allows Print Spooler software to run. Also, upgrade v1903 requires all software/drivers for the OS to be reinstalled, youre pc mfg will have these. Also, quit giving Microsoft a hard time,if you followed youre pc mfg settings for a Upgrade, youre problems will not exist...Also,to upgrade to v1903 run Microsoft/Windows upgrade advisor

  • Thankfully I get some feedback.  Removal of profanity, even though spelled phonically and provided the correct web site to pose my question is more than I got from Microsoft.  Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read my post.

  • You sound like you know what you're talking about but you don't.  Microsoft Edge is part of the operating system and belongs to Microsoft and they do whatever they want.  Now, if I said Google was making changes to the settings in my OS then you would be correct however, MICROSOFT is the one changing the settings once I install Chrome.  I uninstalled Google and magically PC and printer walked hand and hand down Candy land Lane.  Re-installed Chrome a what do you know, same driver (Microsoft provided) no longer works and I get the error message that the driver requires further installation.  Then I did it again.  Same crap.  So I call Brother and they are clueless.  I gave them remote access and they told me to contact Microsoft.  Anyway, I'm back at it again and when I need to print I wire it up and print my little heart away.  I'll never quit and appreciate the opportunity to vent and the bread crumbs are very much appreciated.
