Office Professional Edition 2003 - 114 Blocked VLK RRS feed

  • Question

  • for more than 2 years now, i've had no problems with my xp pro or my office. now suddenly, i have non-genuine version of office, and my computer keeps cutting out of screens.
it jumps to the desk top when i play games, regardless of whether a cd/dvd is required, and when i'm online, it greys out the window like i've opened a second one, except i haven't.
when i bought the xp pro, i did so because i was in langara college in 2007. it was exactly compatible with the school's os, and i was taking online courses. my copy of xp pro is apparently valid, although i do not have the product key anywhere i can find it now. the problem it is experiencing has me worrying about everything from a corrupted or missing file right through to some kind of virus.
the office problem has me concerned because a friend to whom i lent the money to buy a computer by purchasing mine and his on the same day (he did pay me back), is the person who put a copy of office pro on my computer because we had plans to start a small t-shirt printing and distributing business at the time as extra income. he put it on mine because i purchased my copy of xp pro to be put on both computers, so he returned the favour. the xp pro was installed by the computer store i purchased the computers at because we had some small extras added (more ram, dvdr) to the models i bought. he put the office pro on, and it looked like a genuine microsoft copy, shortly after i purchased the machines.
now, his hard drive failed, about 2 months later, the warranty covered him getting a new hard drive, but, he didn't install the same copy of xp pro (mine) on his new hard drive, nor do i know if he had backed stuff up.

how do i do that, anyway? i know how to use the applications to a degree, but i didn't start learning about computers until i was 38 years old, so there's a lot i don't know anything about. but, i digress.

that business idea fell through, but still, to have validation problems more than 2 years later? i've been online all that time, i've submitted essays online, no problem. now this?
now, i've just recently moved to ontario from vancouver. could that be what the ____ the sudden problem is?
i haven't tried any other options other than coming directly to the source, you, and asking a couple of my friends, who know more about computers than i do, what might cause the problem with my computer cutting out of a window or a program. the programs still run. the audio on them confirms it. and, it's just a matter of either clicking on the window i'm in online, or the program button on the bottom taskbar, to go back into what i was doing, but, it is getting bloody annoying to have to do that. especially if i've been writing something, happily banging away on my keys (i type by looking at the keyboard in order to spell the words correctly), and looking up to find that the last paragraph or 2 didn't get typed.
it has done this as i am typing this question to you.

Right now your computer has a Volume Licensing installation of Office 2003 Professional installed, but this installation was done with a widely-pirated and now-blocked Volume Licensing Key (VLK).  Microsoft blocks VLKs when the key has been lost, stolen, compromised, or when the associated Volume Licensing Agreement is no longer in effect, or if otherwise misappropriated for software piracy reasons.

Additionally, I noticed that the remaining Office 2003 programs installed on the computer (Visio Professional 2003 and Project Professional 2003, OneNote 2003, and FrontPage 2003) are all Volume Licensing editions of these programs.  Having this many Office family volume licensing programs installed would lead me to believe that you may be using these programs because of your association with a larger business, educational, or governmental organization.  If so, please contact the tech support people within the organization to have them help you with correcting the Blocked VLK situation.

If your use of these programs is not associated with a larger business, educational, or governmental organization, and you purchased these programs thinking that they were retail licenses for these programs to be sold to individual consumers, it is likely that you are a victim of software piracy or counterfeiting.  As an individual consumer, you should never have been sold Volume Licensing (VL) materials such as these VL installation CDs, and you certainly should not have received a Blocked Product Key.  You should have been sold Genuine retail licensed software.

If so, your first course of action is to confront your seller with this information and demand either a full refund or to receive the genuine software you paid for.

If the seller refuses to help, please file a piracy report at www.microsoft.com/piracy.  Also, depending upon whether you received "high quality" counterfeit materials, you may qualify for the Office Complimentary Offer or for the Office Genuine Advantage discounted offer.  Please see the FAQ here:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EKNAC  If you think that you qualify for the Genuine Office Offer, apply for the Offer thru the Learn More Online link that the OGA Notifier is displaying.

One other possibility is that at one time your computer did have a Genuine installation of Office installed, but for some reason it was replaced with the current installation which is nongenuine.  This could have happened if you took your computer to a repair shop and they reinstalled Windows and/or some or all of your programs.  You Get Genuine once again by uninstalling the current nongenuine installation of Office and using your Genuine Microsoft hologrammed Office installation CDs, along with the genuine Product Key found on your Office Edition's Certificate of Authenticity, to put back the genuine installation of Office you may have already had on the computer.
