Hello
Very quick question - does dynamics CRM 4.0 support integration with an active directory domain running at the 2012 functional level?
Thanks in advance :)

I doubt that you will get a definitive answer from Microsoft on this, other than maybe 'it's not been tested'.
My (limited) understanding of domain and forest functional levels is that they should be backward compatible - i.e. a 2012 functional level domain or forest should behave like a prior functional level to anything expecting a prior level. Based on this, it should work without problems.
Which way would an install work ? You might get a problem when trying to install a CRM 4.0 server into a 2012 functional level domain, but I can't see any potential problems with upgrading the functional level of a domain that has an existing CRM 4.0 server

Windows Server 2012 is not amongst the compatible products for CRM 4.0 . Refer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2669061

Thanks for the response.
Sorry, I should have mentioned that I have already checked that documentation and it did not answer my question.
The server used to host CRM would not need to be 2012, but the active directory domain it was integrated with would be running in a 2012 mode.
The following article does not mention a 2012 directory mode - but based on copyright date it seems that the document has not been updated since the release of server 2012.

Thanks again.
Zak.

Hi David
This is the kind of answer I was expecting.
We would be performing the latter option of upgrading the functional level of an existing domain where the CRM 4.0 server is already installed, so fingers crossed there won't be any potential issues.
Thanks
Zak.

Hi Zak,
I have the same challange you had some month ago. Did you try CRM 4 with AD 2012? Can you tell me about your experience with that project?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Basti
We have still not attempted this, but are due to in the coming weeks.
We are now only planning to raise the functional level to 2008, however this was a wider decisions and not due to any CRM related issues or concerns.
Thanks
Zak.
