Does Silverlight or HDView support JPEG XR with more than 4 channels? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are starting to work on a project to add support for more than 4 color jobs into Deep Zoom format. We would like to be able to process jobs with at least 8 channels - and preferrably 16 channels. This is geared towards the commercial print environment where the need exists for viewing jobs with CMYK plus up to 12 more spot color inks. It seems the new JPEG XR (formerly Windows Media Photo and HD Photo) has the potential to support "N" channel image data. I would love to discuss this project with anyone interested or to start a discussion about how this might be supported in various viewer options. For instance if we were producing JPEG XR now with more than 8 channels would any of the current viewer technologies display it - (Silverlight or HDView)?

Is anyone else working on a similar project? Are there any standards that should be considered for such a project?

  • hi,

we have a working Solution now where we can view n channels .

But it works different. We work like a printing machine. We generate for very Color channel an own 8 bit grayscale PNG as DeepZoom. We colorrise the gray channel with color we need to represent correct color (Cyan, Magenta,...., or maybee silver).

Then we ovelay the deepzoom images and do a bleend multiply of them. This bleend overlay is a special control we develop.

We can hide or show channels and also we can make channels opac.

We use this for our solution to show softproofs of 1.bit files in Printing Industry.
