Live Mesh degrades Remote Desktop icons RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I installed Live Mesh Beta to a new XP SP2 +IE7 install.
When I connect to this machine from another computer in the same Mesh, the
desktop icons look fine, although the change in display from Remote Desktop ( Mesh Connect
seems to downsample everything..... imagine a 21" display forced on a netbook arrgg!),
but the remote cut+paste is really cool

however, if I connect to the same machine using Remote Desktop, the Desktop and Start Menu
icons look weird, as if they are for 256 colors or something.  the icon for Live Mesh installer
looks positively dreadful. Rebuilding the icons has no effect.

can anyone confirm that Live Mesh is messing up Remote Desktop?
I assume they both are using the same terminal services code...

  • I don't believe that Live Mesh remote desktop should have any effect on the standard RDP. However, it may well be causing issues with the display adapter being detected when connected to the remote machine.
