  • I am new to Forums so I don't know if I am in the right place to ask this question. Can you have the older XP and have Windows 7 programmed on to the same computer? This concerns using an older printer that requires XP.

  • Hello Joseph Hill.

    This question should be asked in the Windows Answers Forum.
    Anyway, two Windows versions can coexist if you choose one of the following options

    • create a dual boot configuration: create 2 partitions on the hard disk, install Windows XP in the first one and Windows 7 in the second one; the Windows 7 boot loader will detect the Windows XP installation and configure the boot loader to display a menu that will allow you to choose the Windows version you want to start. You can then install and configure your printer in Windows XP, but it won't be available for you to use it in Windows 7;
    • install only Windows 7 and create a virtual machine: you'll install Windows XP in the virtual machine and then install and configure your printer in Windows XP.

    Bye.
