Configure on premise CRM 2011 with claims-based authentication RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We have a crm 2011 server installed and we can access the site thru https. The public url doesn't have any relation to a specific organization, it only points to the site using the 443 port.

I'm trying to configure this server so that I can use the crm client for outlook; I believe that I need the IFD setup, yes?

I've installed the ADFS 2.0 and configured it as it is written in that "Claims-based[...].doc" document, but I cannot access the federationmetadata.xml file. The site doesn't seem to be working, although the service is started and when I open the AD FS 2.0 management, the database is loaded.

I'm not sure what other information I need to provide so do ask me if you have any idea of how this works.

    Thank you

  • You have to connect your outlook client to the discovery endpoint. In the claims-based... .doc, they use dev.<domain>.com.

  • Indeed, but I would have to configure that dev.<domain>.com first. I cannot get past the claim-authentication configuration due to problems with adfs site, as I mentioned above.

  • What URL are you using to access the federation metadata? What do you get on screen? Any HTTP error messages? Is there anything in the event logs? Particularly the Application, System and ADFS 2.0 Admin (under Applications and Services logs) event log...

I have had similiar instances of the problem, the first time I simply ran through the wizard again (deleting the database), the next time (on a seperate environment) The IE Compatibility view on the server was causing ie to not display the XML just a blank screen.

  • Also have you installed ADFS on the CRM server? If so are you using s seperate port for CRM? ADFS requires the use of the default web site. Have you looked at the following video? They are very useful running along side the MS CRM claims document...
