Windows Home Server problem with restoring volumes and files. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I lost my boot partition data when it got scrambled. At any rate hey no problem I have a backup. I am running Win XP Pro with SP3 on C: partition of a 12 partition drive. The machine is my custom built PC running a MSI MB with 1 Gig of memory. First I tried to restore the volume, everything went fine until it started restoring. After about 2 minutes I got the following error messages. I quote "An unknown network error has occured during PC restore" also "Please verify that your network connection is active and that your Windows Home Server is powered on." It is. So I formatted C: partition and reinstalled XP, now when I try to restore files, a new error message during the time the software is opening the partition and I quote "Cannot mount the Backup". It seems to always happen at 81%. I realize that even if the restoring files had worked it would not have solved my original problem as I really need to restore the whole volume! Any and all help will be well received. Thank you!!
