VISTA Validation Error 0xC004C4A6

Question
-
Ok..I am getting really annoyed. Last week my valid vista started telling me that it is not genuine, and turned off aero and ReadyBoost (which really slowed my PC down). I have been emailing a MS Support rep, but takes 24 hours or more for them to email me back. I have gone to the http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ page and it tells me everything is ok. Then when I try to validate, I get the error 0xC004C4A6. I have reactivated several times both via the internet and by phone activation. Will someone please help me get this thing working?
Thanks,
David

Hmm... that's very strange. Would you please submit a free service request by visiting: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?c1=509&gprid=9860& and post your confirmation number here. That way I can contact you directly so we can figure out the cause of your issue. Thank you!Tuesday, April 3, 2007 9:23 PM

Did you try phone activating after 6 Feb 2007? If so, did they succeed? What licensing state do you see when you type "slmgr -dlv" at an elevated command prompt (you can get there by right-clicking on Command Prompt in the Start Menu and choosing "Run as administrator").
Thank you!

Thanks for getting back to me. The License status shows licensed. I have also did a clean boot by turning off non-ms services and all startup programs and tried to validate but same error.

A little more info. I decided to bite the bullet and format the drive and do a total reinstall. However, I did not activate. I got all the latest updates from MS. I then went to the genuine site and it worked fine, told me I was genuine. I then did an activation via phone, rebooted, and tried genuine again and got the same error code. Please note that I did NOT install any other software on the computer other than what comes from MS.
Thanks,

Hi David,
Could you rerun and post the results of the WGA diag tool, now that you've reinstalled? http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
Thanks a lot!
