Help -- two LEGAL copies of Office, one never registered... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Help!  I had a computer which came with Office 2003 installed (new, genuine).  I never bothered to register it.  Years pass, the computer fails and a friend copies all my files onto a new computer.  Obviously, the registry files would not be correct.

Recently, I purchased Office 2007 and now because of this earlier version, it won't allow me to get anything since it doesn't totally validate.  Ok, so I could delete the old 2003 version and sort of be in business but I wrote several books with that software and am not willing to trash it.  AND I most certainly am not going to pay again for yet another version when I've already paid for 2.  Suggestions?

  • Morning Afulton,

Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and provide us with the results. This will allow our team to analyze your particular situation so we may forumulate a resolution. Please

Step 2 is tell us about the COA. Tell us:

    1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center?
    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.
    5. Please also provide a short description of the issue you are experiencing.

NOTE: The data collected with the Genuine Diagnostics Tool does NOT contain any information that can personally identify you and can be fully reviewed, by you, before being posted.
