  • Question

  • I just recently purchased the OEM verison of WHS from Newegg and I recived all of the disk that have been talked about ( Main instalation disk, recovery disk, and the disk to install the software onto the users systems) but the package came with a 4th disk. It is called OEM Preinstallation Kit disk, it statesd it includes Power Pack 1.

Do I need to do anything with this disk, does that mean that the main installation disk does not have Power Pack 1 on it and I need to install the update form this disk. The documentation on the disk talks about what an OEM can and can not do to the softwear and how the need to build a recover disk.

I can't speak for the OEM with PP1 purchase (since I purchased my copy before PP1 came out).  However, PP1 is an update that you download from MS.  If nothing else, just install WHS from the DVD, then download the Power Pack 1 update from MS.  As for the Preinstallation Kit on that CD, you don't need to worry about it at all (it's for system builders, such as HP, who need a master image for mass reproduction).
