Cannot install Intel network driver RRS feed

  • Question

  • The vail install does not complete due to network drivers not being loaded.

I have downloaded the drivers from the Intel site and used both windows 2008 and 2003 64 bit versions but these cannot be installed.

After ctl-alt-del to get back to windows and updating the driver in the normal way the message I get is

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you are running.  check your computer blah blah and whether you need 32 or 64 bit"

I have the intel DH57JG motherboard with i-5 750 processor that has the 82578DC Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mb/s) Ethernet LAN controller.

    any ideas?

    cheers

    Maurice

  • That's a desktop board; Intel doesn't release server drivers for their desktop line so I presume you're trying to use a reference driver? There are a couple of things you can try: Vista or Windows 7 x64 drivers are likely to install, or as a practical matter a cheap PCI NIC with decent Windows Server 2008 support is likely to be an easier solution. (Yes, I know, "Throw money at the problem...")
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
