I have 2 SATA hard drives one 200GB and one 500GB. The 200 is out of my laptop and there is hardly any free space left, so I bought the 500 to replace it. Im trying to copy everything from the 200 to the 500 using my desktop. Its all hooked up, I formated the 500 to NTSF (or however that acronym goes) and the drive is recognized. I can copy stuff to the 500 with no problem.
First I tried to copy everything with a copy paste and part way thru the copy, the computer just stops, and restarts itself. I figured that probably wont work, so I got some hard drive cloning software.
I used the software and 2% thru it does the same thing, the computer stops and restarts itself.
I dont know why this is happening and I dont know what to do. Does anybody have anything???
These are the Windows Home Server forums and the MVPs in this forum deal with support for that OS. You will find more help in either the Windows XP forums or the Vista forums. That being said, you might run chkdsk /r on the 200GB drive before attempting anymore copy operations.

Ah, sorry, I guess I should have looked harder for the XP/Vista forums, I figured this was the place to go. Thanks, I will try there, This topic can be locked/deleted.
