  • What is the make and model of your computer?  The report is not showing a brand that supports the type of Windows license (OEM SLP) in your report.

    <Manufacturer>System manufacturer</Manufacturer>

You are using an OEM SLP copy of Windows.

    Windows Product ID Type: 2
    Windows License Type: OEM SLP

OEM SLP copies require a corresponding entry in the SLIC table in the BIOS on the motherboard in order to self-activate.  Windows is not seeing an SLIC table.

BIOS valid for OA 2.0: yes, but no SLIC table

The manufacturer has provided a back up product key for when this fails.  Find the COA sticker affixed to the bottom of your computer or in the battery compartment.  Copy the product key.  Click Start, type "slui.exe 3" and hit Enter.  Follow the instructions.

If you have a custom built computer or have replaced the motherboard this copy of Windows is not valid for your use and you need to purchase a full license copy of Windows.

Also, you are using an enterprise version of Office.

    Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007

Unless this was issued to you by an employer or other institution with which are still associated you need to replace it with a retail copy.

  • You are using an Asus OEM SLP key on a retail motherboard. that doesn't work.

You will have to purchase a genuine windows.

)   OEM SLP: This key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes from the Factory. This key is geared to work with the special instructions found only on that Manufacturer's computer hardware. So when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP key (at the factory) Windows 7 looks at the motherboard and sees the special instructions and Self-Activates

....and the installation of Office is also probably non-genuine, being based on a Volume license.

  • I purchased the computer from a family member; I'm assuming it was a custom built machine now since I can't find any manufacturer labels, or the COA sticker mentioned. Looks like I'll need to talk with them...and buy a copy of Windows 7.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

  • Don't buy Windows 7 from an individual or off eBay, Amazon Marketplace, or any discount website.  They are full of authentic looking counterfeits made in China.  Only purchase from the Microsoft Store, Amazon Corp., or other respected Microsoft partner.
