Mac Safari can't login, FF3.3.6.28 can't reply, has cursor issues. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I can't login on safari/mac. sign in keeps saying:

The Windows Live Network is unavailable from this site for one of the following reasons:
This site may be experiencing a problem
The site may not be a member of the Windows Live Network
    You can:
You can sign in or sign up at other sites on the Windows Live Network, or try again later at this site

FF3.6.28/Mac (as previosuly reported) can post, can't reply. Even when posting though, the cursor stays frozen at the beginning of the text being typed in until there is a delay of about 2.5 seconds. THis does not affect typing, but it looks really strange.

  • It a desktop. OS X 10.7.3

If i choose "Reset Safari..." from the Safari menu i can login again, for one thread. Then it does the login loop again.

When i was trying the "Keep me signed in" checkbox, it prevented me from log gin in.

When i tried posting before, i got a strange error. "http://social.msdn.microsoft.com" with an [OK] button. I'd post a screenshot, but that doesn' t seem to load either. It seems to be quite moody.

  • Need to see if this is forums specifically or just the log in. Can you try signing in and out of these: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/ and http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/profile/ ?  Are you at all able to reproduce the problem for these urls?

I'd like to narrow it down a bit, this would help us.

  • I think Brian hasn't been active in his favorite forum since this problem started.

  • Issue still exists on Safari/Mac OS X. SIgn in allows one reply in one thread. After that, browser needs to be reset to reply without error.

  • Let's build this out better, Brian. We need to be very specific for the test team to repro this.

    What's the issue?

FF 3.6.28 on OSX - What are the issues? Please be very specific. You seem to be replying with it now.

Safari/Mac on OSX - You can't log in?

  • And a good point from Brent...

Also see if you can log into your profile from Safari, TNWiki, Gallery, and other "apps". That helps isolate if it's platform or forums specific.

    Thanks!

  • I believe the FF issue has been resolved on both Windows and the Mac.

The Safari/Mac issue is a logout issue.

    1. Open Safari.
    2. Safari->Reset Safari…
    3. [Reset] (everything checked).
    4. Go to forums.microsoft.com
    5. Click Sign in link in upper-right corner.
    6. Username/password,   click [OK]
    7. Click [Send] on security warning.
    8. Click MSDN Forums from forum list
    9. Click a forum from list: MSDN Sandox
    10. Click [Ask a Question]
    11. Type in title [test] and subject [testtest]. click [Submit]
    12. Click My Forums
13 Click a forum from list: MSDN Sandox
    14. Click [Ask a Question]
    15. I got the login error here.

This seems to be a timing issue, as if i wait in between steps. the error happens earlier.
