Powershell Transcript RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to run a PowerShell script to where it starts a transcript and saves it to a folder I created. The problem is, when I run the script, the transcript does not save to the folder I specified specifically in the script. However, when I run the script without specifying the file location, it saves in my documents folder and its own file name. How can I make the transcript save to a file that I created with a random file name?

  • Can you show us the line that writes to the file?

If you are using the Start-Transcript cmdlet, it has a -Path parameter where you can specify the path and filename, as long as you have permission to write in the path. Check the help for Start-Transcript.
